Mobile Music Express of Oberlin, KS was founded in 1995 by Stan McEvoy and Kent Ploussard. It was a wild and crazy wedding dance in Araphoe, NE back in 1994 that sealed the deal and paved the way. It all came about after that one unbeatable wintry night of never ending fun and laughs.
Kent and Stan hit it off from the beginning forming a very close friendship with one another, as well as creating one of the best sounding, fun and entertaining mobile DJ services around, Mobile Music Express. Stan and Kent definitely made their dances interesting. Coining the motto “Wild, Crazy And Sometimes Just Plain Nuts”.
Stan “The Man”, as many know him, worked 12 years doing live radio at local radio station 101.1 FM KFNF and has over 25 years experience being a mobile DJ having worked for H & M Sounds of Oberlin, KS prior to joining together with Kent.
Kent ,also a hometown boy, owned and operated a popular downtown bar known as the Powder Keg back in the 1970’s and also operated a mobile DJ service called P.D.K.G. Radio with over 30 years in the business.
Kent was forced to retire from the business at the end of 2006. For years he fought a courageous battle against cancer. On April 2nd 2008 Kent passed from this world. The thoughts, prayers and acts of kindness to Kent’s family and friends will always be remembered. Kent played one of the main key roles in the success of the business and his legacy will live on.
Stan says he was so privileged and lucky to have been able to work 17 years along side Kent. Stan goes on to say that Kent was the best business partner ever and that he was the greatest friend. Kent will always be a part of this business. No one can take away all the great memories and fun times we shared. Kent passed on his share of the business to his son in law Matt Farr. Kent’s wishes were to continue the business into the future.
Stan welcomed Matt to the business with open arms. Matt has been an awesome addition to the business. He is becoming more comfortable all the time. Stan says Matt is a lot of fun to work with. I’m not sure he knew what he was getting into, but it is good to have him on board. Matt is a great guy whom I look forward to working with for a long time. He has really stepped up to the plate. 2007 was one of the best years yet for the Mobile Music Express.
The Mobile Music Express continues to have fun entertaining crowds from Pueblo, CO to Kansas City, MO and from North Platte, NE to Wichita, KS. Over the years Mobile Music Express has become known as “The Wedding Specialists” because of their diversity in playing for crowds of all ages. Mobile Music Express is able to play a wide variety of music to fit each crowd with one of the largest music libraries in the business.
